Tree planting in the Excelsior district
On Saturday, December 7th, 2007, San Francisco Garden Club members met with “Friends of the Urban Forest” and neighbors in the Excelsior district of San Francisco to plant 50 trees. The Garden Club had donated $10,000 for trees in this neighborhood. There was a full two and one half page article in the San Francisco Chronicle about the event. The article included several columns devoted to the Garden Club’s history of community support beginning with its founding in 1926. Friends of the Urban Forest planting manager, called for a special thanks to the San Francisco Garden Club for making the trees so affordable.
